Little Pig, Little Pig

Asher is a little piglet- he loves to eat! Sometimes I'm shocked at how much he eats at one meal, but we are glad he is healthy and growing

8 months

It's hard to believe my baby is getting so old! I've been weighing and measuring him every month to track his progress and he has finally started slowing down, only gaining about a pound and growing about 1/2 an inch per month in the last few months. He is working on learning to crawl by squirming around on his belly and trying to balance on his hands and knees. We sure love this kid!

Projects

Austin made the comment today that our entire blog is dedicated to Asher. Probably because he is the most exciting thing in our lives and what most people want to see when they look at our blog. But, I do do other things beside just play with and take care of Asher :) Here are some of the projects I have been working on in the last few months.

These are bean bags I made for our nephews for their Christmas present. I really want to make Asher some too, but I haven't had any desire to put in the work to make another set and he isn't really old enough to play with them anyway. So hopefully I will get around to it by the time he is.

This was a Christmas present too. I made it for Austin's mom out of the scraps from a quilt I'm supposed to be making for our bedspread. It will look exactly the same, but just be a lot bigger. So far I only have the squares cut, but I should be able to get it sewn together soon- then I can have my mom quilt it for us :)
Austin and I made our stockings the Christmas that we were dating. I say "we" because he came up with the design and I put them all together. I made Asher a matching stocking this Christmas, even though I didn't actually finish it until after Christmas and we didn't use it since we were in Colorado and he's too young anyway. All of our kids are going to have matching stockings with different animals. So far I have the front of two other stockings done with a moose and a rabbit. Maybe I'm a little ahead of myself, but I didn't want to have any other kids not have a stocking on Christmas because I was too lazy to make them one.

This is the start to an advent calendar. There will be 25 pieces that will each go in a pocket or a little cubby of some kind (Austin is in charge of making something for them to go in out of wood). Each one will have a slip of paper with it that has some type of Christmas activity listed that we can do each day as we wait for Christmas. These aren't completed because I'm still going to put a little stuffing in them to give them some dimension and add some ribbon so that they can be hung on a miniature Christmas tree as we take them out.
Lately I have been finding lots of tutorials on blogs to try. This is one of them. Now I just need to find something to do with all these girl shoes. I have gifted some of them and thought about having my sister put them up on her Etsy shop.
This Dr. Suess quilt was originally supposed to be for Asher, but I just barely got around to piecing the top together and I think he has plenty of quilts already. I might save it for one of our next kids, but I'll probably end up giving it to someone.
These are more tutorials that I found online and wanted to try: Fabric carrots and Easter eggs. We don't have many Easter decorations, so these were nice to add and were fun to make.
Another idea from blogs- an Easter egg garland made out of paint samples. I originally intended for the garland to be horizontal, but my hole punch was too big to put two holes at the top, so I just made it vertical instead.
And finally, this is an upcoming project. My sister-in-law made this bag and gave me the pattern to make one over a year ago. I just bought the fabric for mine the other day and have every intention of making it within the next couple days. (Don't worry Renee, I will return your pattern someday:)
I have a few other little projects going on too, but nothing I felt like taking pictures of. I have found a few more tutorials on blogs that I want to try and hopefully I'll find some more things to keep me busy. But it is starting to get warmer outside and I can't wait to be able to take Asher out more- he gets fussy when he is stuck inside for too long and doesn't have anything new to see.
