2 months

I can't believe Asher is already 2 months old. I don't want my baby to grow up! At the same time, I love watching him learn new things and I am excited to see what he will look like as he gets bigger and what his personality will be like. Austin just can't wait until he is old enough to go camping with him. I had him all dressed up in the same outfit that he wore for his one month pictures just to compare them and see how much he has grown (he actually fills out the shirt now) but I waited until too late in the day and that outfit got dirty, so we took pictures in his pajamas. Hopefully he will still fit into the shirt I used last time when he turns 3 months old so we can compare those pictures.

Manito Park

Manito Park is probably the coolest place in Spokane. Its amazing! It's really big, has a lake, a lilac garden, a Japanese garden, not just a rose garden, but an entire rose hill, lots of space for walking, and of course play equipment for kids. My mom grew up across the street from this park, unfortunately we live about 20 minutes away, otherwise I think I would be there everyday. We visited last weekend and I hope we can visit again a few more times before it gets too cold.

Moustache Madness

Okay, I don't really have any right to post these pictures since I didn't take them and these aren't my kids. I don't even know these kids- I just think they are so cute and had to post them. Just kidding, these are our nephews (Austin's sister's boys) and I love how funny these pictures are! We weren't even at this event since it happened in Colorado, but we were delighted to get the pictures. We are going to print and frame them so that we can enjoy them every day!

Sleep Sheep

Asher has made a new friend- his name is Sleep Sheep! Sleep Sheep is a stuffed animal that my grandma gave Asher. He makes soothing noises (rain, ocean, heartbeat, etc) that are supposed to help babies sleep. Not Asher- at less than 8 weeks old, he has decided that he is a social butterfly and would rather make friends than take a nap. Yesterday when we tried to get him to take a nap (he was getting cranky and needed one) we put him in the crib and turned on the ocean noise of Sleep Sheep. When we checked in on him, we found him staring at Sleep Sheep, the only thing in the room that was making noise. I blogged a few weeks ago about how Asher looks toward whoever is talking more while we are going to bed and tries to join in the conversations by making his own little noises. Well, we figure that he was trying to make a connection with Sleep Sheep too. He just laid there and stared at him forever, but started fussing when the timer turned the noise off. Needless to say, the nap didn't happen. He eventually fell asleep in the car when we went on a drive to check out the area around Spokane.

Our Apartment

Here's our new apartment! I took these pictures at least a week or two ago, but never got around to posting them.
Our living room area. We had to get a new lamp because the lighting in our apartment isn't the greatest.
Our dining room (you can see how much we use our table- its pushed into the corner so it won't take up space and I mostly use it to cut material for a quilt I'm making). Also, we got a new bookshelf which Austin was thrilled to fill with all of his books. When I pointed out to him that none of my books fit on that shelf, he decided to give me Anna Karenina and War & Peace so that I couldn't say that it was only his book shelf.

Our kitchen- not too fond of the white cabinets, but oh well.
Austin busy at work in the desk area. He has started studying here more often than on the love sack and it has made him just a little bit more productive. But the down side is that he can't snuggle with Asher when he is sitting here.
And my favorite room in the house- Asher's bedroom. I've been waiting my whole pregnancy and the month we were in Utah after he was born to decorate his room. It was so fun to get out all of his stuff (even though he won't use many of the toys and clothes for quite some time) and arrange it. Please note the spare bed for anyone who wants to come visit!
Asher's closet- the totes are filled with clothes and a few other things for when he gets bigger.

Asher's crib and book shelf. I think the letters going around the top of the room are one of my favorite decorations. My mom and I bought them when I was 3 or 4 months pregnant and I've been waiting to put them up ever since. Austin and I made the mobile together- it took a long time, but it was way cheaper than buying one. My mom made the elephant blanket and my friend made the letters for Asher's name. And I'm so excited for Asher to get to play with all those fun toys!

I'll spare you the pictures of our bedroom- its the messiest, least put-together room in the house. Austin and I still have clothes to put away. I sure hope it gets done sometime before Christmas :)

Labor Day Weekend

Labor day gave Austin an extra day to get his weekend homework done- so we found some time to play! On Saturday and Monday morning he got up early and worked until about noon, then we went out. On Saturday we went to Cuoer D'Alene, Idaho. We found a really nice baby store where I got a carrier to carry Asher around in, a really cute blue cover for his cloth diapers, and a sprayer to clean of his soiled diapers. He loves being snuggled up next to me in the carrier and it makes it easier since we don't always have to haul his car seat around with us. I love the new diaper sprayer because it's going to make cleaning his diapers easier. After the baby store we walked around and looked in some of the little shops, then hung out at a park by the lake for a little while. It made for a very long day, but we had fun.

On Monday, we went to a community event in Spokane called Pig Out in the Park, which was held at Riverside Park.
A bunch of restaurants from around Spokane get together and sell food from little booths. There was also live music and some carnival rides. (The giant wagon isn't a carnival ride :) its just part of the playground equipment)

In the evening we went to a free symphony at another park in Spokane. We got there a little late and were in the very back, but we could still hear pretty well. Next year, our plan is to get there early and be closer to the front.

Tour of Gonzaga

Asher and I decided we needed to get out of the house while Austin is at school, so on Friday we went with him to Gonzaga. He only has one two-hour class on Fridays so we was able to walk around campus for a little bit while he was in class. We were limited on where we were able to go since I was pushing the perambulator (a baby carriage/stroller for those of you who don't speak British or haven't recently read Peter Pan) Here are some pictures:

Just to prove we were at Gonzaga :)
The grand and luxurious building where Austin spends all his time (aka the law building)
A bee on a flower outside the law building
The baseball field
The river behind the law school. I think it's the Spokane River and definitely one of the big highlights of the campus.
I can't remember, but I think this is the back of the law building
Some aspen trees along the river

The Spokane River again
Asher- he slept for most of our outing until it was time to eat, then he was very awake

Apparently once you go over the bridge and cross the river, you are on another college campus, so this building isn't part of Gonzaga

Gonzaga's soccer field
An art building/museum

The athletic center- probably where all that famous basketball is played
