Leif has been sick the last few days. Its just a cough and a little runny nose, but it must be draining him because he has spent most of the last few days whining about everything (unless he is sitting on my lap with a blanket and binkie), not wanting to eat much, and taking lots of naps. I didn't take any photos yesterday even though that is "officially" when he turned 27 months, he didn't look so great. He was pretty bad today too, but I caught him looking somewhat happy and having fun with Asher early this morning right after they ate breakfast. Asher recently invented a new game of lining up all the wooden construction vehicles in the window sill and driving them back and forth. Of course Leif thought this was great fun and likes to play too.
Leif's language amazes me sometimes. Sometimes we have a hard time figuring out what he is saying, but usually, he is very clear and speaks in complete sentences (minus a few less-important grammar words like prepositions :) Its really funny when he throws in a few extra words when it is clear he doesn't really understand their meaning. One of those words is "anyway", he adds that word onto the end of his sentences even though it typically doesn't make sense. What is funnier, is that he seems to stress that word, like it is an important part of his sentence. It must mean something different to him.
Another funny little language thing that Leif does is always refer to Asher as "my brother". He rarely calls him by his name, although you might remember a few months ago Leif was insisting that they were both named Asher. Leif is still very attached to Asher and gets upset when he has to be away from him, like when Asher went to a birthday party for a few hours by himself a couple weeks ago, or when I make them take naps separately so they will actually sleep. The other night Leif was up howling and crying at 2 a.m. and when I went to their room to check on them, he told me that he wanted Asher and Asher was gone. Asher was fast asleep curled up in all of his blankets right next to Leif, but because he woke up and didn't see his brother, he panicked.
It seems like more and more often lately, I hear Asher and Leif running around together giggling or getting into something together. They fight occasionally over silly things, but for the most part they love each other so much and find so much joy in playing together. I love it!
This blog will tell you all about the exciting lives of Austin, Keely, Asher, Leif, Heidi, Trevor, and Natalie. Follow along with our adventures as we venture into the unknown, tackle new obstacles, and enjoy the ride.

More Snow Time
Asher just loves the snow! He wanted to go outside first thing this morning and I told him he had to wait a little bit until it warmed up a little more. He was slightly upset because he thought that the sun would melt all the snow, but I managed to convince him it would last for awhile. He goes out to play for about 15 minutes then comes in for 30-45 minutes while he warms up, then is begging to go out again. He gets a little fussy about all the clothes I make him wear to go out, but it is freezing out there!

Snow!
It has been pretty warm here the last few months. We have gotten up into the 60's on a lot of days, which is just way too warm for winter. We finally got a good snow storm- which we haven't had since Christmas and the boys were quite excited to play in it. Its snowed for the last two days and its supposed to snow more. As soon as they finished breakfast yesterday morning, they were begging me to let them go out to "snovel" the snow. We got them all bundled up and out they went. They wanted to go out again this morning, and it was pretty difficult to get Asher back in the house even though it was colder today than yesterday. He finally came in when I told him we were having hot chocolate with marshmallows. (I made little mini snowmen out of marshmallows one day just to be silly and now Leif brings up all the time that he wants to eat "Frosty" all gone, so we had to have marshmallows).

Its a . . . . Baby!
We had our 20 week ultrasound for baby #3, even though I'm really 25 weeks along. I told them upfront that I don't want to know if its a boy or a girl. I hear that it is super exciting to wait until the baby is born to find out. I found out with both boys, so I thought I should give it a try just to have the experience. I'm dying to know what I should be preparing for since I'm such a planner, but I figure its good for me to just chill out. I'm covered either way. If its another boy, we have lots of boy stuff already. If its a girl my cousin has already gifted me her 0-3 month baby girl clothes and I'm sure my sister in law has stuff to lend. Plus, I shouldn't admit it, but long before even getting pregnant I had already started buying a few baby girl clothes here and there just because they were so cute and I thought "maybe someday". I'm done though- no more wasting money on the chance that we might have a girl.
The ultrasound appointment lasted forever! The baby was wiggling around a lot and the tech couldn't get all the right pictures. The boys were pretty good at first, with Asher actually being interested in looking at the baby and asking if the baby was saying his name :) After about an hour though, Austin had to take them out to the hall because they were getting into everything and whining/arguing. Here are a few of the photos the tech did get.
