This week we took our first trip to the Denver Zoo (and Asher's first trip to any zoo!) We met my friend Dave there. Austin had to work and wasn't able to come, but luckily Dave offered to carry Asher around everywhere, since the view wasn't very good from his stroller. I was a little worried that Asher wasn't going to be really interested in the animals, which was the case with many of them, but he did like some of them.
He was interested in the elephants, but seemed a little more interested in the other little kids that were standing near us.
He loved the peacocks and wanted to walk right up to them.
The polar bear got him really excited. He kept touching the picture of the polar bear on the sign and pointing to the actual polar bear. He started squealing and getting giddy about this point in the afternoon.
The giraffes weren't the most interesting to him, but he did at least pay some attention to them. (Look at my belly! I'm starting to get huge!)
The hippo was especially fun because he was swimming and jumped up out of the water a few times- that really got Asher's attention.
I don't know why the penguins were so exciting, but he seemed to like them a lot even though they didn't do much.
As you can see, he didn't care about the lions at all. This is the best picture I have of him with them and he isn't paying any attention to them. Maybe it was just because we had been at the zoo for awhile and he was starting to get bored.
Our first trip to the zoo turned out to be quite the success. Asher got to see lots of new things and didn't cry or fuss until the very end of our car ride back home.
