Its already been a month since Heidi turned two! And we are full-swing into the "terrible twos". Heidi is sweet and happy most of the time. She giggles about everything and loves to have fun, but she sure can throw a little tantrum when she doesn't get her way. She is Little Miss Independent and likes to do everything herself, including wandering off wherever she would like to go. I am constantly looking for her in the house because she has disappeared somewhere (I usually find her in a room with the door closed) and once or twice I've gotten a scare because she has wandered off somewhere while we are out. Heidi is the first (hopefully only) child I've had run away from me in a parking lot, laughing (I've learned my lesson and either carry her or put her immediately into a shopping cart).
Heidi's newest favorite activity is getting herself a snack from the refrigerator. We often find her helping herself to string cheese or an apple with the fridge door hanging open. She used to just reach into the drawer and fish around until she found what she wanted, but now she delights in bringing a little chair over, standing in the open refrigerator, and perusing the items she could choose. I typically don't mind her getting her own snack, but sometimes she wants to eat just before a meal (or just after because she'd rather have a snack than eat what was served) and sometimes she leaves the fridge open for an extended time. Silly girl- but she won't have anyone get the snack for her- she can do it herself! Heidi also loves to go potty on the toilet (she especially loves to flush it) and is very proud of herself when she does (although we are still working on getting there before she soils a diaper). She still loves to dress (and constantly undress) herself and is the busiest little body I know.
Here are some pictures of our busy little princess:
This is the bear my dad gave Heidi for her birthday. She loves to sleep with him and was taking care of him by putting him in Trevor's swing and giving him water from her water bottle.
Heidi insisted on dressing herself by wearing this little sweater over a long-sleeved shirt. I was glad when she finally let me take it off because it was too hot for two long layers.
And here is Heidi playing with chalk, which is what she had her mind set on and wouldn't rest until we went outside and did it.
