Easter

We had a fun Easter making treats, dying eggs, going to church with Austin's parents, and having an egg hunt at their house with cousins.

On Saturday, we made something called resurrection rolls, which symbolize the resurrection of Jesus Christ by being hollow on the inside when they are broken open like the tomb was empty on the first Easter. The kids had fun doing all the steps and the rolls turned out pretty yummy.

Once that mess was cleaned up, we dyed Easter eggs. The kids love to wrap little mesh sacks around the eggs to get a scaly texture on them. They also tried putting oil in the dye to get a marbled effect. Natalie was eager to take her eggs out to see the color soon after she put them in, but Leif was the most patient and let his sit in the dye for a long time to get a darker color.

Trevor was very proud when I said I liked his two eggs the best and wanted to show them off.

We attended church with Austin's parents and went over to their house afterward. The kids were completely spoiled with Easter bags full of candy and an egg hunt with money inside the eggs. We forgot their Easter baskets, so they had to use grocery sacks. My girls had fun looking for eggs for awhile, but soon became much more interested in helping their youngest cousin find his special eggs.

I had a hard time keeping the kids from eating too much candy before we had a very yummy lunch, but they did a pretty good job waiting until after lunch to eat lots of candy. They had the most fun sorting and counting all the money with their cousins. They mostly split the money evenly, even though the older cousins were very nice in putting in the most eggs and taking away less money than the younger kids.
