We now have a nine-year-old girl! Heidi is so sweet and generous- she is always looking for someone to share with when she has a special treat. Dad is her usual choice, but she often shares with mom or one of her siblings as well. Sometimes Heidi gets a little sassy or dramatic and seems like she is already a teenager, but in general she is very mature and helpful. Heidi is an excellent reader- something that she loves to do. She has also recently become interested in writing poems- especially since she is participating in a summer contest with poetry as a theme. She loves Calico Critters and loves to play with her friends. She still loves ballet and is very active. She is also very thoughtful and asks lots of questions about anything she is interested in or doesn't understand. We are so blessed to have Heidi in our family!
We had the traditional chocolate waffles a day early, right after I made her wash her hair so it would be clean for her birthday.
She had her party on the evening of her birthday- it was pretty low-key with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandpa coming over for dinner and dessert. Heidi made her own chocolate cream pie with her grandpa, which she loved! I was busy making two pot pies (her favorite dinner!) and a batch of brownies so Trevor could have something sweet too.
I thought she did a great job decorating the cake with strawberries, and they were so yummy to eat dipped in the whipped cream. I didn't get any pictures of Heidi opening presents, but she was definitely spoiled! Natalie was so sweet, making her a telescope (a paper towel roll painted with watercolors) which she painstakingly wrapped in a big box. She also got some Calico Critters, a crafting kit, beads, a book, new clothes, beads, and a hiking backpack. When I asked her what her favorite present was, she said one thing after another until she had listed everything that she got for her birthday.
I forgot to take other pictures of just Heidi on her birthday, but we got a few the next day in one of her new shirts.
And here is Heidi's birthday interview:
