Off to the Races

Yesterday was the annual rubber ducky race in Estes Park. We have never been before and just heard about it from one of Austin's co-workers, but it sounded like fun so we took the boys up yesterday. As a fund raiser, some club (Lion's Club or something) sells ducks that people can buy and then they race them down the river. The ones that win get prizes. We didn't buy a duck, but we had lots of fun watching the hundreds of ducks racing down the river. We met up with some of the people Austin works with to have lunch at a pizza place, but the boys couldn't stay seated for long and we ended up with our pizza at the river (Leif at at least half of the pizza all by himself ;).

Leif took advantage being close to the river to throw rocks into the river for quite awhile.

 

The boys were extra excited to run down the river and see the ducks coming.

Here we are at the finish line. The boys were enthralled to sit and watch the men catch the finishing ducks with nets and put them into garbage cans. (Although Asher was quite concerned with why the ducks were going into the garbage)

Asher also got his face painted, but Leif didn't want to have his done. At the end of the day we got ice cream and the boys ate all theirs then begged for mine. They fell asleep promptly upon getting into the car and driving down the canyon.
