My dad came up to see Heidi's ballet recital, spend his birthday with us, and spend lots of time with the kids. Heidi had lots off people come to watch her recital. Besides my dad, both of Austin's parents, his brother Brent and his wife Lexi and their son came. Austin stayed home with all of our kids since Natalie and Trevor had already seen her dress rehearsal and Asher and Leif weren't really interested in going and it would have cost too much to drag them all along.
The kids had lots of fun playing with my dad's dog Bella and learning to
shoot. My dad gave Leif his Christmas present really early- a compound
bow. My dad spent quite a bit of time working with Leif using his new bow, but he also spent time teaching Heidi and Trevor how to shoot the other simple bow. Asher can shoot the compound bow as well, but his arms are a little too long for it, so he doesn't do it much.
My dad requested chocolate waffles for breakfast on his birthday, but he hardly ate any. The kids had fun helping me make carrot cupcakes too, but he didn't really eat those either. We did catch him eating all the extra cream cheese frosting later though ;)
My dad sent Austin and I on a date together to celebrate my birthday on the evening of his birthday and he had fun hanging out with the kids all night.
