Abbey came to Colorado the same day Kenny and his family did, so she and I took the kids to the museum. We only had one extra seat in the van, so we invited Stella to come with us. Our first stop, of course, had to be the astronomy section of the museum.
We stumbled across a display of statues made from gemstones to represent scenes from Russian folktales. We all have a love for Russian things because of Austin and the statues were fascinating to look at. The kids and I have read a lot of these tales and it was Leif who first recognized that each statue was from a story.
As always, everyone's favorite part about this museum was the Kid's Discovery Zone- especially playing in the water.
There was a special exhibit about insects that Stella really wanted to see, but it cost extra to get into, so I just sent Stella and Asher in to see it. During the time we were there, Abbey and I took the other kids to the gems and dinosaurs, then we went to both exhibits again so Stella and Asher could see them. This wasn't much of a problem though, because all the kids love both of these exhibits. I didn't know this before, but Leif said that the dinosaur exhibit is one of his favorites. We bought a year-long family pass, so we'll be back for more summer adventures and for a school field trip or two.
